bobsbigboyApparently the first Bob’s Big Boy was in Glendale but since they tore that one down the Toluca Lake location is the oldest standing Big Boy in the world. The flashing neon sign reads ‘original double deck burger’ which is exactly what I ordered. Cheers to 'The Big Boy' for great feats of burger innovation and ingenuity by introducing the world to the double decker. Sometimes a single deck just is not enough. Speaking of inovation, the 50's coffee house/diner arcitecture is indeed the real deal and not some type of cheesey themed restuarant knock-off. They still do car hop service on the weekend. Now I’ve heard that the service can be a little rough on the weekends, but since it was a Tuesday night in the middle of January, I was good to go. I truly enjoyed the burger. One very unique aspect was the ketchup-relish. The Apple Pan has the same kind of spread which makes sense since both places are a flash from the past. The only regret that I had was I didn’t get the Jumbo Big Boy. However, this one did the trick and the price was right too. Bob's Big Boy has certainly stayed true to their roots and their menu.
