While the hard shell taco is something I find to be more American than Mexican the Hugo’s hard shell feels more Mexican. I guess it starts with the shell. It wasn’t your standard store bought assembly line corn variety. It was my light, puffy, almost like a pastry. You choose your meat and salsa topping. I went with the steak (since they didn’t have beef) and pico de gallo. It was a very good taco. A bit steep in price and no complimentary salsa bar hurts on stars, but one of the more unique hard shell tacos in the city.
