cornercottageWhen you cruise by a little shack like the Corner Cottage and you see that there’s a line out the door, you know something good is cooking inside. When the line finally makes it to the door and you step inside you will see they have the standard greasy spoon’s menu, but nothing is more delicious and therefore sought after than their breakfast burrito. Cash only, long waits, and service not exactly with a smile is what you’ll get and you know what? They don’t care because they know they’re calling the shots because the breakfast burrito is that good. Plus that’s kind of their deal. They are a very organized operation. The four-man crew, cashier, griddle man, assembler, and bagger operate with discipline and purpose in such close quarters. A metaphorical tank crew loading and firing burritos and blasting away morning hunger.. Anyone?.
Through the years people have complained that they have added more and more filler in the form of potato to their delicious breakfast offering. But in my opinion, it’s still a perfect blend of potato, meat, eggs, cheese, and hot sauce (make sure you get it on the side). And the secret ingredient, the guy’s sweat who’s manning the griddle trying to keep up with the masses ordering up burritos. Gross you say? Don’t knock the Cottage Corner until you’ve had it. It’s probably my favorite breakfast burrito in L.A.
